Our fellows are drawn from undergrad, masters and PhD programs across a variety of disciplines: technologies, visual/communication design, design research, systems thinking/strategy, UX design, and storytelling.

Shreya Saraf
Shreya completed her undergraduate studies in business and finance and is now a San Francisco based UX Designer. She believes in the transformative a power of design, has a flair for storytelling and a penchant for quant. Shreya thinks with her hands, revels in simplifying complexity, and desires to create impact in domains such as fintech, fashion and healthcare. She recently graduated from California College of the Arts with a Master's in Interaction Design, where she designed for the future of retail industry and prototyped connected devices for helping patients with diabetic neuropathy.

Sanjana Rajagopalan
Sanjana is an engineer and human-centered designer currently pursuing a Master’s in Design Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Sanjana completed her B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University. She is passionate about designing for social change and is an avid reader and traveler who enjoys playing guitar in her free time.

Piyum Fernando
Piyum is a 3rd year PhD candidate of School of Media Arts and Engineering at Arizona State University. His work explores creative methods for scaffolding citizen science practices through open source hardware. Piyum obtained his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. He loves music and photography and enjoy visiting unseen places and people.

Essie Kim
Essie is an experience designer based in Los Angeles, California with a graphic design and painting background. She is a recent graduate of the Interaction Design BFA program at California College of the Arts, where her thesis explored designing for mental health through seamless user experience, engaging storytelling, and memorable brand identities. Her interests include branding, fashion, and Beyoncé.

Ajay Jayakumar
Ajay is an interaction designer with an passion for complex social systems. He has 10 years experience as a visual designer, guiding teams to deliver compelling campaigns in brand and advertising. Ajay loves the creative energy that arises from teams with diverse perspectives. He recently graduated from California College of the Arts with a Master's of Interaction Design.

Aaron McKenzie
Aaron is a Design-Optimist with a broad range of design experience in health, higher education and social-impact. As an UX Designer, he leverages his expertise in ethnographic research, rapid ideation, prototyping and facilitation to deliver platforms, tools and services that drive user adoption and loyalty. Aaron recently graduated from California College of the Arts with a Master's of Interaction Design.

Priyanka Saha
Priyanka is a UX designer with a background in visual design. As a graphic designer in India, she designed branding, packaging, and web content for clients such as Vodafone, ITC Limited and the Tea Board of India. She enjoys designing solutions for vulnerable populations in areas with high social impact potential. Priyanka recently graduated from California College of the Arts with a Master's of Interaction Design in which she completed projects on women suffering from postpartum depression and exploring safety for transgender communities in the Bay Area.

Saloni Dandavate
Saloni is an Interaction Designer with a background in animation, communication, advertising and design research. She is currently an Interaction Design Resident at Y Combinator, and recently worked as a UX design consultant on a project with Chase Bank. Co-creation is central to Saloni’s approach to design, as “designing for the people, with the people” is her personal motto. Saloni holds a Master's in Film Animation from the National Institute of Design in India, and recently earned a Master's of Interaction Design from California College of the Arts.

Joshua Embree
Joshua is a Los Angeles-based data scientist and strategist. He works at the intersection of algorithms and design to build human-centered, responsive systems that yield actionable insights for resolving complex challenges. Josh collaborates closely with organizations to facilitate growth through thoughtful measurement, design thinking, and behavioral science. Formerly, he worked in public policy research at the RAND Corporation and data science at Nike WHQ in Beaverton, OR. Josh holds a PhD in statistics from UCLA and BS degrees in math and economics from Arizona State.

Colin Swenson
Colin is an experience designer and strategist. Colin's practice combines strategic thinking focused on achieving systemic change over time using framing and nuance as tools to help reshape perception in real time experiences. Before working at The Wrecking Crew, Colin was the Interaction Design Resident at the Environmental Health Clinic run by Dr. Natalie Jeremijenko. Colin completed his BFA in Interaction Design at California College of the Arts, where he focused his thesis work on reimagining the web browser and online engagement. In his free time, Colin runs a personal art and design practice focused on social impact and creative exploration.

Karen Song
A native of China, Karen is a San Francisco-based UX and product designer. She strives to create powerful products through design thinking and storytelling. Coming from an architectural and design background, Karen believes design reflects the way we think and interact with one another, whether through space or artifacts. As a UX designer, Karen has worked on the Future of Office Intelligent Network at Microsoft, and the Future of Personal Data Marketplace (AI) with T-Mobile. Karen graduated with distinction from the Interaction Design BFA program at California College of the Arts, where she designed a language assistant to help people learn culture nuances.

Alessandro Battisti
Alessandro is an interaction designer who believes in the power of transparent behavior design to help people improve their lives. Alessandro works on financial services projects at the Wrecking Crew; in the past he has designed for companionship while aging at Fuseproject. Alessandro has a BFA in Interaction Design from California College of the Arts, where he completed his thesis on accessible software systems for aging adults.

Chaitrali Bhide Bhide
Chaitrali (Chai) is an Interaction Designer based in San Francisco. She sees the potential of technologies such as AR/VR, Machine Learning, Voice Interfaces, and Smart Objects as tools to design systemic solutions for complex issues such as Climate Change, Quality Education, and Humanist Healthcare. As a design chameleon, she borrows from her interdisciplinary maker-skills to adapt to the ever evolving field of interaction design. As an Associate UX Designer at Tally Solutions, Chai conducted user-research, developed wire frames, introduced design thinking tools, and facilitated design sprints to design the most relevant interactions for the company’s software products. She recently graduated from the MDes Interaction Design program at California College of the Arts, where she worked on challenging projects such as systemic behavior change for a zero-waste campus, and service ecosystem design for general anxiety disorder.

Prabhav Jain
Prabhav is an Interaction Designer based in San Francisco. He has recently completed his second Master’s in Interaction Design from California College of the Arts, and a design residency with Y Combinator Research at Dynamicland. Prior to this, Prabhav was working as a Lead User Experience Designer at Samsung Mobile R&D. He has a background in industrial design and design research and this multidisciplinarity helps him view products and experiences in a holistic light. Apart from design, Prabhav also enjoys hackathons, sketching, and origami.
Chris Lueb
A native of the Netherlands, Chris is a San Francisco-based interaction designer. She strives to create human-centered products, services, and experiences using (without being restricted to) design thinking. Coming from a Computer Science and Art & Design background, Chris combines technology and design (with a little bit of business of course) to arrive at innovative solutions. As a software engineer, Chris has worked on several desktop applications for Philips Healthcare and JP Morgan Chase but her true passion lies in being an interaction designer solving (mental, physical, and environmental) health-related challenges. Having completed her Master's in Interaction Design at the California College of the Arts, she will soon start interning as an interaction designer with IDEO.
